Seattle has a reputation of awesome. Except for the weather. But Seattle summers provide some of the best weather in the U.S. The American Psychological Association’s (APA) 2024 psychology conference gives the chance to see it. Their convention is held from August 8-10, 2024. It also provides a chance to get more of those continuing education credits a lot of us are always trying to get!
The APA annual convention in Seattle has a ton of great continuing ed opportunities to help boost therapist resources and knowledge. And it’s a city with a fun, beautiful, and perfect-in-the-summer weather experience.
CE training topics run the gamut from forums on theories behind new and existing therapies, ethics, assessment, statistics, and cultural competency trainings (to name a few), there’s plenty to soak up. Talks on cutting edge research and concepts also abound at APA. Many of these talks and forums are eligible for continuing ed credits. Formats include in-person and virtual modes. Most states allow these trainings to apply to multiple degrees paths in mental health (check your individual state boards)!
Pros: So many options…. APA provides extensive options in its trainings on a whole range of topics. They also provide the option to attend multiple continuing ed sessions for one price included in the base registration fee (be sure to read fine print though). You can also to attend longer individually priced full continuing education workshops. They also offer virtual sessions.
Some trainings are led by individuals with some pretty impressive credentials and experience. Many trainings have high emphasis and discussion of applications to clinical practice. And Seattle has plenty to do and see!
Limits: The virtual session schedule is yet to be released. Note that APA trainings have traditionally ranged in their degree of research support, with some offering highly research-based trainings and others less so. (Certain other conferences have more heavy emphasis on research support.) Be sure to read into each training-of-interest beforehand.
APA’s 2024 psychology conference provides a well-rounded convention in a great summer city! And for the professionals out there who like to explore a conference’s city more than the conference itself, this one has plenty of goodness. Not to mention all the great therapist resources and networking it provides!
